The smartest 20 month old ever

Tonight we discovered that our crazy little Macy can count to 3. She tries to go further but says "five" instead of "four." She was lining her rubber ducks on the side of the tub during bath time and then Justin would knock each one into the water, resulting in screams and squeals of delight from Macy. As she would line them up Justin would count them but he noticed that after he said "one" she would yell "two, wee!(three)" and then "hive!" Okay, so she isn't even two yet so her pronunciation isn't them best but at least she has the order down. We made her do it several times to make sure it wasn't in our heads. Kylie almost rolled over today too but she was in the bath at the time and got a face full of water so I think that has discouraged her from further attempts. Oh well, any day now she will figure it out.

We also went to this Winter Trails even that REI put on in this park in town. They had a lot of sports equipment to try out so we checked out cross country skiis. We spent a lot of time bundling up the kids because there was supposed to be dogsled races that we thought Macy would love but after we had been there a while we discovered that they had been cancelled. Bummer. we also tried out some cross country skis but it really just made me want to go down hill skiing, something I haven't been able to do in years due to being pregnant the last two winters in a row. Macy wasn't really enjoying beings strapped to dad's back and Kylie was getting incredibly heavy strapped to my front so We decided to get the girls out of the 10 degree temperature and I took them home while Justin played and then skate skied with my cousin Randy. He really enjoyed it so he may have a new hobby to work on.

Late in the afternoon we went to a baptism for a convert in our ward. I somehow got asked to speak which would have been okay except the children were screaming in the hall while Justin and a friend tried to quiet them. I was distracted the entire time I spoke so I am sure nothing I said made any sense at all. Oh well.

Valentine's Day

Yesterday was one of those days where Macy and Kylie were driving me to the point of insanity. I can only handle so much wining and time sitting on the ground with Macy climbing all over me, especially when I am trying to get the house clean. When my wonderful husband came home from work I told him that Macy was his. He was very obedient and took care of her and kept her away from me as much as possible. He also took her with him to the store so I could get the house clean which was such a nice treat. I love Macy but some days I need to not be around her for a while.

Thinking I was sly and clever I had asked Justin several weeks ago what was a really good meal that he would like to have one day. He answered that pork chops in a good sauce would be nice. I had hoped to surprise him on Valentine's Day with that meal but he figured out my not so sneaky plan so we decided to invite some friends over to join us for dinner. Dinner was a hit and after we had finished Justin and I left the kids with Carmin and Sam (the friends) who he had previously arranged to have stay with the girls. The fact that he had prearranged babysitting so I could have time away from the children made me want to tackle him and kiss him. We then went ice skating at the Lagoon. which I initially wasn't too excited for because I have skated maybe 7 times in my life, the last time being over four years ago when we were dating and I am terrible at it. I felt ridiculous out there especially because Justin is such a good skater I felt like a moron clinging to him the entire time so I wouldn't eat it on the ice. He was a very good and patient teacher though so after just a little while I was able to skate around by myself and not look so out of place. Once our hands and ears had frozen through we went and decided to freeze our bodies from the insides out with Cold Stone. This guy knows the way to my heart. My Chocolate Devotion Creation was perfect and it had me giggling in a "this is so good it must be wrong" kind of way.
When we got home we were pleasantly surprised that both children were fast asleep. It was definitely a step up from last year's Valentines Day that I spent with my parents in Boise because I had gone up to get an ultra sound and make sure I was actually pregnant although the extreme nausea I was experiencing at the time should have been proof enough. My wonderful parents took Macy and I to this very nice and fancy restaurant where I got an amazing steak dinner. Anyone who knows me at all knows that I love fancy restaurants with nice, over priced food because I just like to be pampered. This experience was actually somewhat miserable because besides the sickness that prevented me from enjoying my food to the fullest, I had to wrangle a wiggly and noisy 8 month old in an environment that didn't really welcome children. I think our waiter cringed when i asked if I could gets some crackers or bread for Macy. I was shocked that they even had a high chair in that place. I felt like I was getting death glares from all around us because my child was babbling or whining loudly and disrupting their romantic nausea free meals.
Anyway, I have a great husband who gave me a great Valentine's day complete with child free time. Here are some pics of the girls in cute pink Valentine's day clothes. Notice the extreme amounts of drool on kylie's shirt. She has been an out of control crazy drool monster lately.

fat and happy

That is about the best way to describe our little Kylie. We went to the doctor yesterday and she weighs almost 17 pounds. She was sick last week and this week had a well check. In that time of not eating to now where she wants to eat 1-2 times a night she has gained almost a pounds. Little chunker. Anyway, We will be starting solids this week in an attempt to get her to sleep at night again.
Before church last week I got the idea that I should paint Macy's fingernails. Miraculously, she actually held still long enough for me to paint them and for them st somewhat dry. I'm trying to show off her nails in this picture but she wasn't really cooperating.

I also had to get a picture with Kylie because she has almost grown out of the cutest dress ever. Plus, I am rarely in photos with the girls because I am usually the one taking them, so here is beautiful Kylie.

And here is another one of Macy taking a bubble bath. Dad put a few too many bubbles in this time but Macy didn't mind one bit.
And here is one more. MAcy and Justin have been having way too much rowdy fun together this week and this is what happens when Justin gets Macy wound up while she is eating Yogurt.

There isn't much else that is new this week. Justin is flying right now and I really should be getting invitations ready for Ashley's bridal shower but I wanted to post something while the girls were sleeping. Last night Justin ad I went shopping for my birthday in an attempt to find a dress for Ashley's wedding. Randy and Debbie babysat last night (thanks again) and I was thrilled to discover that despite receiving immunizations earlier in the day, both girls had been extremely happy the whole time we were gone. What a treat for all of us.

One last thought. Justins should have taken the camera this week when he took Macy to the animal shelter to look at dogs and cats. Apparently she went ballistic with excitement when they pulled up and she could see a dog outside. Every morning since then Macy signs dog and cat and as soon as we get her out of bed and she runs to the door yelling "bye-bye!" because she wants to go back and see the animals. She is pretty dang cute.

26 and still kickin'

Yesterday was my 26th birthday. Each year it feels more and more weird because I never feel older. However, this year, I do. I was watching Macy run and dance around like crazy today while I felt too exhausted to move and realized something that people don't tell you about pregnancy. While they are inside of you, they take your energy, but you don't get it back once they are born. The kids keep it and remain spaz's for years to come while the moms feel more and more tired.

Anyway, the kids have been pretty cute lately although Kylie has decided not to sleep at night anymore. Hopefully that will change once her ear infection is gone. Justin's week of 4:00 a.m. flights (be at work by 2:30) is finally over so we are all cheering about that and hopefully we can split the kids between us some and both get some rest.

Macy has been learning new words faster than I can count. today at costco she signed and said "apple" at the same time. I am going to copy my friend Amanda's idea and write down all of the words that she knows right now so I at least have it somewhere: Hot Dog, elbow (a new one last night. I didn't even know she knew what that was), please, daddy, mommy, Kylie, grandma, dog, moose, more, i don't know, there it is, milk, eye, nose, apple, no, uh-oh, bath, hi, hello, bye bye, night-night, baby, doll, ew! Gross!, wow, owie, boat, cracker and many things she will copy but doesn't really say on her own. I think there may be more but I can't remember them now. She has also been trying to sing "row, row, row your boat" the last few days and I think that that is pretty cute.

Macy also loves to play with the blue nose sucker even though I try to keep it out of her reach because it's gross. Here she is sucking out Elmo and her baby's nose.

Well, Kylie just woke up so I had better go get her. More next time.
