Justin off to AMS (Officer Training)

For 6 weeks Justin headed to Maxwell AFB in Montgomery Alabama to attend AMS or officer training. It was a long 6 weeks for both of us but luckily for me, my mom and sister Chelsea came up to visit for a week of it. Thanks to my wonderful friend Sassy I got to fly down to attend his graduation and I am so glad I went. His mom was there too and we got to stay at the on base hotel.  It was so nice to get to see where Justin had been the last 6 weeks and to see the funny habits he had picked up, everything from how he walked to calling everyone sir and ma'am and even leaving the toilet seat up because that is what they were told to do.  Thursday night they had the awards banquet which was a lot of fun. Justin was recognized as receiving an excellent score on his fitness test which was a 99.3.

Friday morning they first had their state oath ceremony.  With the Air National Guard they take both a State and Federal oath as they work under a dual mission to serve their country and their individual state.  The Commandant of AMS happened to be a Colonel from Alaska so he came by to administer Justin's oath which we thought was pretty cool. After that they had a Federal Oath and Graduation ceremony.  This pic didn't turn out so great so I am glad Brenda got some better ones.

I am so proud of Justin for making it through this crazy training.  He worked really hard and everyone spoke very highly of him. He is now a Second Lieutenant and in a week he heads of to SERE training which is a survival school. In January he will leave for Initial Flight Screening for 2-5 weeks in Colorado and then we move to Del Rio Texas in February!  It has been a crazy few months and it will continue to be crazy until we make it to February and get to actually be together for more than 4 days at a time.   I am very proud of my husband and I am happy that I finally feel like we are officially "military" now!  Plus, he looks awesome in his uniforms ;)

Macy's Fishing Date With Dad

Justin and Macy went fishing Saturday morning and I wanted to show off these cute pictures. Justin caught one on her Princess pole and let her reel it in. Although it was muddy and windy, they both had fun and Justin is now smoking some fish in the backyard as we speak!

How cute is she? Later that night we got a babysitter for the girls and Justin and I went on a fishing date. I hadn't been in years but I always loved going with my dad when I was younger. We had fun even though I only caught 2 dead fish. Justin caught several but they either got away right as he got them to shore or they were snagged (not caught in the mouth) so he had to throw them back. We had a lot of fun and now that I have my license and boots we can go more easily.

A Little Introduction

Hello everyone out there in BlogStalk land. I am so happy you came back to see us. I would like to make a little introduction. People, meet the KC 135.

This guy is what my wonderful husband, Justin, will be flying for the Air national Guard for the next 10+ years. Its a great big refueler that fuels up planes as they fly over the North Pole. He will be running a "last stop" gas station in the sky, of sorts.
We are so happy and relieved that he got this position. After his interview he has been told that he would find out by the end of this week and if he wasn't chosen, he would get a letter a week later. By Thursday, we were discouraged and by Friday night we had accepted that he wasn't chosen. Much to our surprise they called him at 10:00 this morning (who calls on a Saturday???) and let him know that he was chosen. We are so happy he was chosen and I am happy that he is happy because I have never seen anyone work so hard for anything. I don't believe there was anything else left in the world he could have done to secure a position.
Anyway, I will leave you with one last imagine of this ginormous plane that my husband will be flying. Thanks all for your love and support!

Congrats to My Pilot Man

So Justin got another upgrade at work so in addition to flying the C-46:

He will also be flying the Embraer aka the Brasilia.

Finally, a plane younger than our parents!

Unfortunately, the only change this really makes in our life is that he will probably work a little more and work more sporadic hours, but the time is more valuable and it will be great experience for him. Plus, I am a fan of him flying a plan that doesn't necessarily belong in a museum.

To My Valentine...

We aren't doing too much for Valentine's this year but I thought I would write Justin a little tribute because he is so great.
1. I couldn't ask for a better father for my children. He is the better parents right now and when I am frustrated or just don't know what to do, he is so confident and well thought out in his actions. I really admire that in him.
2. He is very hardworking and ambitious. He wants to excel in everything he does and because he works so hard, I know he always will.
3. He has probably changed more dirty diapers in the last few weeks than in almost 2 years, and he hasn't complained about it at all.
4. He is supportive of my sewing habit although I know he hates the thread pieces and mess that takes over the house.
5. He is very dedicated to his church calling. He works had to do his best at it and I am very impressed by this.
6. He provides for our family well and he is constantly working to improve things for us.
7. Justin can make me laugh easier than anyone else can and I love when we lay in bed at night just talking an laughing.
8. I love how adventurous he is and that he always wants to go out and try new things. He may go help out at the Iditarod in a few weeks if he can get his work schedule figured out, and I think its great he wants to do that.
9. He is just a really good husband and father. I have said lots of these things in previous posts but he really loves his family and enjoys spending time with us. I love how happy he is to just hangout with me and relax. I am so lucky to be married to my best friend. I love him lots!
